The Packhouse lifestyle store & antiques centre increases its dining offering with new restaurant bears opening September 2016.

One of Surrey’s best-loved antiques and home stores, the Packhouse in Runfold, is to expand its food and drink offering with a new all day restaurant, Bears, opening in mid-September. The Packhouse’s popular Café Fig will close to make way for Bears, on the site formerly occupied by Culinary Concepts. Run by the same chef, Rupert Butcher and his team, Bears will serve modern British-European fare across breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea with the new and exciting addition of an evening dinner service.

Embracing modern rustic and industrial-inspired décor, Bears will promote locally-sourced ingredients and produce, embracing a country market atmosphere with a sophisticated dinner menu. Appealing to the Packhouse’s broad customer base, the daytime menus will feature old Café Fig perennial favourites such as eggs benedict and the all day breakfast, alongside lighter lunch bites, sandwiches, salads and afternoon tea and a gastropub-inspired evening menu.

Commenting on the opening, Rupert Butcher, chef and founder said, “We’re really excited to be launching Bears. The bigger kitchen will enable our customers to enjoy a wider range of cuisine in a relaxed and stylish setting. And with the addition of an evening menu, we hope that the restaurant will become a dining destination in its own right. I’ve been a chef for 20 years and Bears is a great opportunity to showcase modern cuisine and serve exactly the type of food people want. Our day and evening menus offer something for every palate and occasion.

Bears will be a place to come for breakfast or coffee, a lunch with friends or a good night out. And our various seating areas throughout the restaurant mean that you can lounge with a newspaper, have a relaxed meal with your family or at night, sit at the bar and enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail.”

Bears is due to open on 14th September 2016.
